DID YOU KNOW?

Question and Answer

What is therapy and how can it help me?

Therapy is a collaborative process between you and a licensed mental health professional (like myself!). It provides a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Therapy can help you:

  • Understand yourself better.

  • Develop coping mechanisms for stress, anxiety, and depression.

  • Develop coping mechanisms for stress, anxiety, and depression.

  • Heal from past experiences and trauma.

  • Achieve personal goals.

  • Increase self-awareness and self-esteem.

  • Learn healthier ways to communicate.

Is therapy only for people with serious mental health issues?

Not at all! Therapy is for anyone who wants to improve their mental and emotional well-being. People seek therapy for a wide range of reasons, including managing everyday stress, navigating life transitions, improving relationships, dealing with grief, or simply wanting to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. You don't need to be in a crisis to benefit from therapy, because you don’t learn how to swim when you are drowning, you learn how to swim when you are calm.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is usually about getting to know each other. What I like to do is:

  • Introduce myself and my approach in therapy.

  • Review the confidentiality policy and your rights as a client.

  • Explore your therapy goals together.

  • Answer any questions you may have.

  • Collaboratively discuss a potential plan for future sessions.

How do I know if therapy is right for me? Or, if you are the right therapist for me?

The best way to find out if therapy is right for you is to try it! I do offer a free 15 minutes “Know Your Therapist” consultation to see if we vibe. Other considerations can be if you are:

  • Experiencing persistent emotional distress.

  • Having difficulty managing daily life.

  • Feeling stuck or unfulfilled.

  • Wanting to understand yourself better.

  • Seeking support for specific challenges.

How long does therapy usually last?

The length of therapy varies greatly depending on your individual needs, goals, and the issues you're working through. Some people find short-term therapy (a few months) helpful for specific issues, while others benefit from longer-term therapy (a year or more) for more complex concerns or ongoing personal growth. I do offer both short and long term packages that fit your needs. Feel free to bring this up during the free consultation!
